Terms of service
These terms govern your use of Job Burro at jobburro.com (the “service”), operated by Josh Neider, a sole proprietor in Boise, Idaho, United States (“we,” “us”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy and refund policy.
The service
Job Burro is free consumer software for people who are job hunting. It helps you track applications, draft resumes and cover letters, search for roles, and assemble a weekly work-search log from activity you record. We may change or discontinue features. The service is provided as-is, without a service level commitment.
There is no paid product. Optional contributions described on /donate/ support hosting and AI costs so the software can stay free. A contribution does not create a paid subscription, unlock features, or change these terms.
Not a government, legal, or benefits service
Job Burro is not a government agency and is not offered by or on behalf of any state unemployment office. We do not file claims, contact agencies, disburse unemployment or other government benefits or grants, or act as your representative. Work-search logs and similar documents are assistive tools that organize information you provide. You are solely responsible for submitting your own paperwork and for complying with your state’s rules.
The service is not legal, tax, or financial advice. Do not use it to fabricate contacts, references, work-search actions, or other records.
Accounts
You must provide a valid email (and phone, if you use SMS sign-in) and keep your login details under your control. You are responsible for activity on your account. We may suspend or close accounts that violate these terms or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users or to the service.
Your content
You retain rights in resumes, notes, job postings you paste, and other material you submit. You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that material solely to operate the service for you, including sending it to subprocessors such as AI providers when you use drafting or search features. You represent that you have the right to submit that material and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
AI drafts can be wrong. You must review them before you send them to an employer or a government agency.
Acceptable use
You may not:
- use the service for illegal activity;
- fabricate job-search activity, contacts, or identity documents;
- attempt to break into, scrape at abusive rates, or disrupt the service;
- resell access or misrepresent Job Burro as a government offering;
- upload malware or others’ confidential information without permission.
Payments
If you contribute, payment is processed by Stripe, Inc. Card details are entered on Stripe Checkout, not on Job Burro. Amounts are in United States dollars (USD). See the refund policy.
Disclaimers and liability
The service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted availability. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability for claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you contributed to us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) twenty-five US dollars ($25). We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for hiring outcomes, unemployment decisions, or employer actions.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Idaho, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts located in Ada County, Idaho have exclusive jurisdiction, except that we may seek injunctive relief in any forum.
Changes
We may update these terms. The “Last updated” date above will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms.
